Brandon L. Bartels is Professor of Political Science at the George Washington University. His research and teaching interests center on American politics, judicial politics, the U.S. Supreme Court, public perceptions of law and courts, institutional legitimacy, and judicial power and court-curbing around the world. Bartels is co-author (with Christopher D. Johnston) of the book, Curbing the Court: Why the Public Constrains Judicial Independence (Cambridge University Press 2020). His work, including research supported by the National Science Foundation, has also been published in journals such as American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, Public Opinion Quarterly, and other outlets.
