In the forthcoming national election approximately 58,300,000 American citizens will be eligible to qualify under the election laws of the states and cast their ballots for the candidates of their choice for President and Vice-President of the United States.
In the last two. presidential elections only about one-half of those entitled to participate in the choice of the President and Vice-President went to the polls. In the election of 1920, held immediately after the nation-wide enfranchisement of women and the doubling of the electorate by the ratification of the Ninteenth Amendment, only a little over 49 per cent of those eligible to qualify and vote participated in the balloting.
