Prospective Action by A. F. of L
Final tabulation and analysis of the results of the presidential election will bring up for decision by Senator Lafollette and the organizations that supported his independent candidacy in the 1924 campaign the question of whether the formation of a new “aggressively progressive party” on a permanent basis shall be attempted at this time.
Senator Lafollette, in his message to the convention of the Conference for Progressive Political Action at Cleveland, July 4, accepting its endorsement of his candidacy, expressed his hope for a new political alignment to be brought about by the formation of a new party after the election. He was confident, he said, that the voters in November would give him “a vote of such magnitude that a new party will be inevitable.”
