The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in April that individual states have the power to block construction of new nuclear power plants.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in May levied the largest fine in its eight-year history — $850,000 — on a New Jersey nuclear plant operator for neglecting routine maintenance procedures. |
