Public Demand for Better Protection of Children
Recent Killings of small children after criminal attacks have shocked the American people and brought strong public demands for more effective action against sex offenders. The need of better protections for children was stressed, Nov. 18, in an outspoken statement on sex crime by John Edgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. “The sex criminal has replaced the kidnapper as a threat to the peace of mind of the parents of America,” Hoover said. “The time has come to call a halt.
