Reduction in Maximum Workweek Next October 25

On October 25, 1940, the maximum workweek in industries covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act will be reduced from 42 to 40 hours, in accordance with the terms of the statute. An estimated 3,000,000 employees out of the 12,300,000 covered by the law are now working more than 40 hours a week.
