Help: Browse Documents by TopicThe browse features of CQ Congress Collection lend editorial structure to the document collection. On the home page, each major component offers one or more browse options. Public Policy Legislation: Click on "Browse by Topic" to see a list of twenty-four public policy areas, ranging from agriculture to transportation. Some of these topics, when clicked, reveal subtopics. At the end of each branch of the browse tree, you see a list of documents related to the topic. Members of Congress: Click on "Browse by Congress" to see a list of Congresses. Clicking on a Congress, say the 104th Congress (1995-1997), returns a list of every member who served in that Congress. The links take you to a biography of that member. Alternatively, click on "Browse by Member" to see a list of every individual who has served in the House or Senate since 1981. Floor Votes: Floor votes may be browsed either by Congress or by public policy issue. You can see, for example, every key vote taken by the 98th Congress (1983-1985), or every key vote taken in Congress since 1945 on a particular issue, say air transportation. This browse option defaults to CQ Key Votes. To browse all floor votes, select the "Show All Floor Votes" option on the browse screen. To toggle back to Key Votes, select "Show Only CQ Key Votes" on the browse page. The Legislative Branch: Content related to the institutionits committees, procedures, or powers, to name a fewand to the institution's place in the system of checks and balances can be browsed via the link on the home page. Browsing from the Left Navigation BarAs you navigate the CQ Congress Collection, there will always be on the left navigation bar a Browse Documents by Topic link. That link takes you to a browse list that combines the "Public Policy Legislation" topics and the "Legislative Branch" topics. |
